The ERP curricula incorporate aspects of the National Curriculum, however we focus on targeting the content which is most appropriate for the child's developmental stage rather than their age. We also plan our activities to ensure that children with Education, Health and Care Plans and Termly Support Plans are given regular opportunities to work on and progress towards their individual outcomes within their daily routine.
We tailor the curriculum within each group to meet individual needs, whilst also supporting both academic learning and social and emotional development. We work closely with children and families to develop positive relationships in a warm and nurturing environment.
Our ERP provision offers a highly supported, small group learning environment where the staff have a range of knowledge and experience of learning styles and special educational needs as well as nurture and attachment theory. We work as a cohesive team, across the ERP and mainstream settings, to best support the individual needs of each child and to help them achieve their potential.
Our ERP learning environments aim to be a home from home setting, feeling warm and inviting, to make all feel welcome. The different areas within our provisions allow us to have classroom areas, on-going provision areas, an outdoor provision area, kitchen facilities for sharing meals and preparing food, sensory areas and quiet calming spaces for time away from the main group.
Whilst we assess the children's academic progress against the relevant criteria in the National Curriculum, we also use the Boxall Profile as a tool to assess and measure progress in social and emotional functioning. In addition, the activities we complete each day incorporate vital social skills and self-regulation strategies to aid children in their personal development.
All children who spend time within The Orchard, The Treehouse and The Meadow groups are part of a class in the main school and the amount of time they spend in each setting varies according to their specific needs.
The Six Principles Of Nurture
As part of being a nurturing school, we incorporate the six principles of nurture into our daily practice, both at school and across our three ERP settings, The Orchard, The Treehouse and The Meadow. They play a fundamental part in how we plan and structure our day and they underpin everything that we do. These principles are written in a child friendly way and are displayed in each classroom and also across our ERP settings.
The Orchard
The Orchard is a building which is separate to the main school building with its own outdoor area, sensory room and kitchen facilities. Despite it being physically separate, the children who attend groups here are very much part of the whole school community. At present, the Orchard morning group caters for KS1 children and is designated to primarily support those with SEMH needs. This provision is based around a highly predictable and structured timetable to provide stability. The timetable is displayed in a visual layout for children to refer to throughout the day. Our activities are planned to encourage children to access all learning areas at some point each day and are short, with regular movement breaks planned in. We offer a range of sensory opportunities to support learning and development, use the outdoors as part of our daily provision, whatever the weather, and meet together as a group to celebrate, reflect and have an emotional check in. The children’s learning is linked to a book and includes seasonal topics as well as topics linked to personal development.

The Orchard afternoon group currently supports KS2 children with a variety of special educational needs. The provision offers a curriculum based around seasonal events and developmentally appropriate life skills, with a focus on practical learning opportunities. The life skills topic areas covered through the year include Taking care of myself, Using technology, Living my life, In the kitchen, My world and Out and about. The children within this group also take part in daily social skills groups, weekly PE lessons, weekly Music lessons and follow a developmentally appropriate Jigsaw curriculum in addition to their life skills curriculum.
The Treehouse
The Treehouse is a classroom located within the main school building. This year, The Treehouse morning group runs in parallel to The Orchard morning group and offers the same provision but for KS2 children.

The Treehouse afternoon group currently supports KS2 children, targeting SEMH needs. Their learning is based around a famous person who is linked to a particular National Curriculum subject area. Each week their sessions include Let’s Learn, Let’s Create and Let’s Cook. The weekly timetable also incorporates a PE lesson that takes place with a mainstream class and a developmentally appropriate Jigsaw lesson. Children are supported to develop their social skills through targeted activities and guided play.
The Meadow
The Meadow is a provision situated in a classroom in the main school. This year, it is primarily supporting children with communication and interaction needs. The children access daily sensory circuit activities, practise fine motor skills, have opportunities to explore a variety of sensory experiences and work on small step academic learning activities 1:1 with an adult. Each day offers the chance to work on gross motor skills outside in a variety of ways, Attention Autism activities help to develop attention and concentration skills and children take part in daily singing, signing and counting activities.

Parent Events
Each term we hold parent events so that families can come to our ERP provision to take part in seasonal activities and celebrations. We believe that working collaboratively best supports our children.
Admissions
In order to access a place within our Enhanced Resource Provision for your child with an Education, Health & Care Plan, the consultation as set out by the Local Authority must be adhered to. Usually, this will be discussed within an Annual or Interim review meeting and then agreed by the SEN panel. The school then work alongside parents/carers and the Local Authority to ensure a child's needs can be best met within one of our ERP settings.
