At Hornsea Community Primary School we are dedicated and committed to see every child in our school become a successful, lifelong reader, and consequently a writer. We value the importance of reading and writing at home, and in this section of the website, have put together some resources which we hope will be useful.

Little Wandle

HCPS Reading Scheme
In Year 2 upwards, pupils are encouraged to read widely, through the use of our reading scheme, high-quality class texts, library books and attractive books in classrooms. Our reading scheme uses a combination of Oxford Reading Tree and other schemes including Dandelion Readers and Project X ranging from Stage 1 to Stage 16. The HCPS reading scheme is matched to phonics phases enabling practice and consolidation of children's developing phonics and word reading knowledge.
